Carol Whitaker

Carol has been a volunteer and donor to Friends-Seattle since our founding in 2000. Her journey with Friends of the Children began as a local volunteer tutor at Thurgood Marshall Elementary, where she worked alongside our professional mentors, supporting our program's youth at school and ensuring they had everything they needed to thrive. This connection introduced her to our work and drew her to our organization’s mission. She soon became a dedicated volunteer, offering guidance and encouragement to youth with a passion that has carried on throughout the last 25 years.

Shaye Villanueva

As a former mentor at Friends-Seattle, Shaye created an amazing community among staff and youth alike. She made it a point to make deep and meaningful connections with not just her own youth, but youth across many caseloads. Her dedication in partnering with other staff members to provide programming and safe space for LGBTQIA+ youth continues today and we are so grateful for the time and service Shaye provided during her time at Friends-Seattle.

Slalom

Slalom has been partnering with Friends-Seattle for the last 14 years, supporting the Winter Family Giving Program. The contributions Slalom has provided help to brighten the holiday season and ease potential financial burdens the holiday season can bring for families. They ran toy drives when Friends-Seattle used to give out toys around the holidays and stuck with us as we transitioned to a gift card model, offering support by assembling gift bags filled with cocoa, candy, and gift cards.

Pagliacci Pizza

Even though it is a newer partnership, Pagliacci Pizza staff have all been such excellent champions as supporters of Friends-Seattle. From donating catering for events serving up to 200 guests and providing $10,000 in gift cards to supporting our Winter Family Giving Program, offering interview prep and job placement for youth, hosting pizza-tossing events, and organizing career days, Pagliacci consistently steps up to support youth and families.

Mercer Island Presbyterian Church

Much like we commit to youth 12+ years--no matter what, MIPC has committed to supporting Friends-Seattle for the long haul. They have shown unwavering support and have grown with us.

MIPC has contributed to Friends-Seattle in many ways over the last 14+ years. They have provided backpacks for every youth in our program throughout that span (approximately 1,500 backpacks), supported the Winter Family Giving Program, and other campaigns that we asked for their support with. Their generosity has helped ensure that Friends-Seattle youth and families begin the school year with essential supplies and have their holiday wish lists fulfilled.
